| WoodPal Technology has been in the works for years and is entering the commercial market in the
spring of 2008. This patent pending technology is a of natural oils
reduced with water. This stable hybrid uses the tried and true oils that have proven themselves for
many years linked with nano sized transparent oxides used in the “Natural” colors and tough iron
oxides in the “Effect” colors. In addition a shear sensitive viscosity additive achieves suspension of
heavy duty UV absorbers along with the color pigments. This additive creates a gel structure in the
coating which has the additional effect of creating a drip resistant stain. To address the concern a
consumer may have when they open the can and see this higher than normal thickness we have
applied a sticker to the lid to show them that this is normal for this product.
The stain should still be agitated prior to use just like other stains. When the stain is applied what
happens is amazing! The shear forces from the brush collapse the gel. This frees the oil to
penetrate deeply into the wood and allows for a very even application with a uniform color.
The dry time is the same as a conventional oil based stain. Of course the usual precautions
regarding weather conditions and temperature should be taken. These precautions are
mentioned on the label.
In summary the product is unique in how it appears in the can but behaves and lasts just like the
premium stains it replaces. |
